- Students will be required to wear approved face coverings on the bus
- Sanitizer will be available on the bus (for students in 1st grade and older)
- Social distancing will be strictly followed on the bus with one child per bench; occupancy will be limited to 20 students
- Weather permitting, windows will be kept open
2020 SALES TAX HOLIDAY |
Florida's 2020 Back-to-School Sales Tax Holiday will be Friday, August 7 through Sunday, August 9, 2020.
No sales tax will be collected on purchases of clothing and shoes under $60 per item; backpacks, handbags and wallets, under $60 per item; school supplies priced $15 or less per item, and computers and accessories under $1,000.
As we prepare to return to on-campus learning, policies and procedures have been updated to provide the best and safest educational experience for our students and faculty during these unprecedented circumstances. Recognizing that conditions have changed throughout these past four months and are likely to change even after school opens, we will continue to be nimble and adjust as conditions evolve.
Please take time to review these mitigation measures with your family so we can all do our part to keep our community safe.

MEET YOUR TEACHERS |
Since safety is our #1 priority, these will be "child only" visits. (Parents, are asked to please wait in your car.) Teachers will be sending parents videos to introduce themselves on Friday, August 7.
KEEPING SAFE WITH FACE MASKS |
Super Heroes wear masks...
and so can you!
All students in PreK 3 - grade 12 will be required to wear a face mask or other face covering when in school. If your child is not yet accustomed to wearing a face mask, now is the time to help your child become comfortable with wearing a face mask.
Here are some ideas to help introduce wearing a face mask to your child:
- Keep it Positive
Children mirror the opinions and emotions of the adults in their lives. It can be unsettling for a child to see others in masks and covering their own face can also make kids uncomfortable. Talk to your children about how they are feeling and focus on the positive aspects of a mask rather than the negatives of the virus. Let them know that masks can help keep us and other people in our family and school healthy! Masks protect our own noses and mouths from germs, but wearing a mask can also protect others because it keeps our germs from spreading. - Practice wearing masks at home
Practice is the best way to get used to the feeling of wearing a face mask. Put one on yourself at home so your child can see that it is not scary. Try putting the mask on a doll or stuffed animal to help your child get more comfortable with this. When faces are partly hidden by masks, kids can't see the friendly smile or familiar look that usually puts them at ease. Practice reading people's expressions when they are wearing masks by looking at their eyes and eyebrows. - Find some role models
Lots of heroes and helpers have always worn masks. Doctors, nurses, and dentists wear masks. And, of course, Super Heroes wear masks. We can all be Super Heroes by wearing our mask. - Let them make it their own
Let your child help choose the colors or pick out their own masks. Kids can also decorate their face masks with stickers or fabric markers. Allowing them to get creative with the mask will help them feel like they have more control and will help them feel more comfortable with it.
Each student will be supplied with one mask, and will need to bring a clean mask to school each day. Please take these next few weeks to find what works best for your child.
Check the "Health & Safety" tab on the COVID-19 Information Hub for links to the CDC on how to properly wear and care for face masks.

BOX TOP$ FOR EDUCATION
Box Tops for Education is an important tool for CDS to raise funds for small projects. Our school's lifetime earnings are $16,552. We are setting a goal of $1,500 this year.
BTFE is going digital! The new and improved Box Tops app uses today's technology to scan your store receipt, find participating products and instantly add Box Tops to our school's earnings online.
You can still send in traditional clips. If your package has a traditional Box Tops, cut it out and send them into to school. Each clip is worth 10 cents. You can scan your receipt and clip the Box Tops and get twice the amount.
