Coca-Cola Scholar

Congratulations, N’Jhari J.

N'JhariN’Jhari J., a senior at Carrollwood Day School has been named a 2019 Coca-Cola Scholar, one of the nation’s premiere scholarship programs. He is one of 150 students selected from an initial pool of 95,715 applicants from across the country. As a member of the 31st class of Coca-Cola Scholars, N’Jhari will receive a $20,000 college scholarship.

This past weekend, N’Jhari joined other 2019 Coca-Cola Scholars for Scholars Weekend in Atlanta, GA where he was a guest of honor at a celebratory banquet, participated in a leadership development curriculum, and was welcomed into a vibrant and growing family of alumni that have become a powerful force for positive change in the world. Through networking, collaborations, and friendships, the group strives to make a greater impact together.

Since he was a young child, N’Jhari has been a change agent, positively affecting others in our community. His community-service initiatives include providing thousands of Pajama Buddies to kids at Shriners Hospitals for Children in Tampa, raising money to purchase Automatic-External Defibrillators (AED) for youth sporting organizations throughout the Tampa Bay Area along with certifying over 120 people in CPR/AED use, and donating socks to Joshua House. N’Jhari also raises money for the Dick Vitale’s V Foundation for pediatric cancer research through the sale of four books that he authored.

N’jhari has earned many prestigious recognitions for his leadership and community service. In the past two years that N’Jhari has attended CDS, he was selected one of 25 finalists for the national U.S. Army – Pro Football Hall of Fame Award for Excellence and was presented with a Congressional Award Bronze Medal. This award recognizes voluntary public service, personal development, physical fitness, and exploration of a new environment or culture. N’Jhari also played football and lacrosse at CDS.

N’Jhari is living the CDS mission to help students discover and develop their own talents and interests and use these to better the world and themselves. He is looking forward to the opportunities he will have as a college student to expand his impact on his community. CDS is very proud of his many achievements and contributions to our community and we look forward to following his successes in the future.
