    SUMMER ASSIGNMENTS

    Summer Reading

To help you select your books, your child's teacher has prepared a list of suggested summer reading. Some students find they enjoy and decide to read books by one author. Some students like to read mystery books, fantasies or historical fiction. The important thing is that all students need to read to sharpen their reading skills and to experience the pure joy of reading a good book.

    Summer Math

Parents can reinforce math skills with everyday activities. Incorporate math into your family's daily life - without a lot of time, effort, or expense - with these fun ideas.

    Summer Learning Adventures

Making sure your child is keeping his or her brain active during the summer months is important—especially since students can lose a month’s worth of learning skills over the summer. Here are some fun activities, outings, and websites for summer learning fun.

    After Care

CDS uses KidCheck® to provide an online check in/check out system for students that participate in the extended day program at both the Early Childhood Campus (ECC) and the Bearss Avenue campus (grades 1 - 5). KidCheck® improves the safety and tracking of our children and  will also enhance our communication, security and our administration of our extended day programs. Each family that intends to utilize the before care (ECC only) or after care program (both campuses) must create an account prior to the first day of attendance. If your child is already registered in KidCheck, it is not necessary to create a new account; your account is still active.

Click here to download the simple instructions to create your KidCheck account today.

    Transportation

Carrollwood Day School offers transportation to and from the Bearss Avenue Campus on a fleet of school owned buses. This service is maintained for the convenience of CDS families. CDS has established bus stops at various locations on each of our bus routes. Compliant with State guidelines, CDS may not pick up students at their residence.  In addition to the route bus stops, there is a shuttle between the ECC and Bearss Avenue Campus to assist families with children enrolled at both campuses.

For families that do not use the CDS bus service, Carrollwood Day School encourages all parents to carpool whenever possible. In an effort to "go green," over the summer CDS will make available resources for parents to help find carpool partners effective and easy.  Please complete the Car Pool form if you would like to be added to the Car Pool list.

    Get Involved in 2019-2020!

    Volunteer

The Room Representative acts as the liaison between the teacher and the parents, coordinates class volunteers, and facilitates events held "outside the classroom" (International Festival, class Auction/Gala involvement, Staff Appreciation activities, etc.). Periodic meetings are held to discuss the details of upcoming events. Meeting notes and parent information letters are provided for the representative to communicate with parents. It is a great way to get involved and stay connected!

We are currently collecting names of those parents who are interested in getting more involved for the elementary grades. If you are interested in potentially becoming a Room Representative for your child's class/homeroom for the next school year, please click on the link below to add your name to the list by August 2nd. Please add your name to each grade level that you would consider volunteering to be a Room Rep. Final selection will take place by September, after the students have been assigned to their classroom. (Please note: Placing your name on this list does not guarantee that you will be asked to serve as a Room Rep for your child's classroom. Room Rep assignments are based on supply/demand, teacher needs, etc.

Please contact Andrea Esguerra or Andrea Cottrell,  Elementary School Room Rep Coordinators, with questions.
