School Wide Calendar
8th grade iFly trip
This enrichment field trip will introduce students to concepts in physics and mathematics related to surface area, forces and motion. This joint math and science experience will take students through the mathematics of skydiving as they learn about gravity, Newton’s laws of motion, and velocity. Engagement in hands-on activities and observation of experiments in the wind tunnel provide the background for a simulated skydiving experience. Interested students will have a flight class and then experience skydiving in the wind tunnel.
- Arrival: Students must report to their Advisories for attendance at 8:00 a.m. We will leave to the buses at 8:05 a.m. We will return to school for regular dismissal.
- Attire: Students should wear well-fitting, lace-up sneakers, or running shoes. Other shoes are not suitable. Students may wear a uniform or spirit shirt and pants - khakis or jeans (CDSA)
- Lunch: Students should bring a bag lunch and bottled water, or may order one from FLIK by February 18.
- Parents must complete the iFly Liability Waiver for students participating in the optional skydiving portion of the trip. iFly will email families a link with the waiver.
