ALP Student Expectations
Hello Patriot Families,
Thank you for your feedback and patience as we progressed through our first quarter of learning at CDS. Both our faculty and our students have done an excellent job adapting to the changes and challenges of this new learning model. We are glad that we are able to offer the flexibility of a program such as the ALP. As we continue to offer the ALP in the second quarter, we would like to remind everyone of some basic expectations moving forward.
As we continue to offer the ALP in the second quarter, we would like to remind everyone of some basic expectations moving forward. We will also be holding a mandatory meeting for all ALP Parents or parents considering ALP on Wednesday, November 4th at 6:00 pm via zoom.

Zoom Classes
- Students should check Schoology course pages daily for posts with information and a Zoom link. The expectation is that they are logged on and are available during each class.
- Students should log into the Zoom a few minutes before class to ensure they get into the meeting when the class begins.
- Students are required to wear their uniform top and be sitting at a desk or table to create an appropriate learning environment. The use of headphones is also recommended.
- Students are required to have their video on for attendance and assessments. Students will be allowed to participate in class activities without their video only at the discretion of the teacher.
Other Zoom Sessions
- Students will Zoom into advisory; teachers will update the Advisory Schoology page with the weekly schedule.
- Students will Zoom into breaking ground/clubs/societies if feasible.
- Students will attend college counseling meetings via Zoom.
- Students will have regular meetings with their learning coach.
Coming to campus while on ALP
- Students are required to check in with the front desk anytime they are coming onto or leaving campus.
- If students need to come to campus for designated class(es), they need prior approval from the ALP Direction and their classroom teacher. Any students that do need to come to campus for a class, must take that class's assessments on campus.
Additional Considerations
- Starting November 9th, ALP will be selected for a month at a time. Upper school students on ALP will be expected to remain remote for the duration of that selection.
- Students will be exempted from PE for the duration of their participation in the remote program. PE is a graduation requirement and will need to be completed either via FLVS or next year. Contact Sabrina McCartney to discuss alternative options.
- ALP is intended to provide your student with a learning environment that meets your family's needs during this global pandemic. If your student is struggling academically while enrolled in ALP, please consider a return to either partial or full on campus learning.
Adhering to these expectations allows for us to continue to provide not only a safe environment, but also a learning environment that is equitable to those on and off campus. If you are interested in making a change to your student's ALP status, please click on the link below.
