Patriot Nation Commitment to our Community

In order to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 and reduce the potential risk of exposure to everyone within our community, we expect all faculty/staff, parents, and students to join with the school's administration in committing to fostering a Community of Care. We are in a unique situation as a community of staff, students and families. As such, we have a shared responsibility for each other's health and safety throughout this unprecedented time. This will require making a commitment to practice social distancing and other good personal hygiene and safety precautions in our daily lives, in and outside of school.

This shared responsibility is imperative if we want to be able to provide and maintain a safe and healthy environment for on-campus learning for all of our students and faculty/staff. We must all do our part to prevent the spread of the virus.

Update to Return to School Policies

To comply with the CDC guidelines, updated July 23, 2020, for the safe opening of schools, Carrollwood Day School has revised our policies to require all students, older than toddlers, and adults on campus to wear a face mask at all times when in a school building and outdoors when social distancing of at least 6 feet cannot be maintained.

  • In accordance with current CDC guidelines, gaitors/buffs are no longer acceptable face coverings; face shields may be worn with a face mask, but not alone. Face masks with breathing valves are also not allowed.
  • CDS will provide one face mask for each student. Students will need to wear a clean face mask to school each day.
  • Students will have safe face mask breaks during the day.
  • Face masks will not need to be worn when outdoors provided students are able to maintain social distancing of at least 6 feet apart.

Parents are asked to review this information provided by the CDC about the safe wearing and care of face masks. Please help your child practice wearing a face mask at home before returning to school.

Aftercare Announcement

Parents, please be advised that our focus at this time must be on getting students safely back on campus for learning. The start of before care (ECC) and aftercare (ECC and elementary) will be delayed until after Labor Day. Please complete this short survey to help us assess the need in our community for before (ECC) and after school care. Due to CDC guidelines and social distancing requirements, we may need to limit enrollment in this program.

After Care Survey

Before coming to school...

  • All required back to school and medical forms must be completed on Magnus Health by July 31, 2020. Students will not be allowed to attend classes if these records are not complete. All immunization records must be up to date and comply with requirements mandated by Florida Statute 1003.22. (Immunization Requirements)
  • Hand hygiene is another essential way to control the spread of COVID-19 and many other illnesses. Please make sure your child knows the proper way to wash their hands.
    • CDC | Handwashing
  • Parents will have a responsibility to monitor their children for signs of infectious illness every day. If your child's temperature is elevated or they are not feeling 100%, they need to stay home. Children who come to school with a fever of 100.4o or higher or exhibit any symptoms of illness will be sent home immediately.
  • Flexibility and back-up childcare plans should be part of each family's back-to-school planning. Families will need to be prepared for unscheduled closings or shift to adaptable or distance learning plans in the event of quarantine requirements.
