Health Update
Dear Families,
As Carrollwood Day School prepares for Spring Break, I want to update you on the steps that are being taken to mitigate the potential impact of COVID-19 within our school community and share vacation travel recommendations/ policies.
What we are doing We continue to closely monitor this situation and align our response with guidance from local, state, and national health agencies, as well as emerging information from within the education community. All school personnel continue to conscientiously follow CDC guidelines and remind students about following everyday preventive actions, which include:
We hope that you are reinforcing these same habits at home.
During Spring Break the facilities department will be doing a deep cleaning of all classrooms, offices and shared facilities. This includes cleaning the carpets. Please remind your child to bring all personal belongings home over break to help reduce clutter that can impede our cleaning crew.
Travel recommendations/policies We expect that some families in our community may have plans to travel within the US and internationally over Spring Break. We strongly encourage travelers to consider potential exposure to COVID-19 and to review the latest travel advisories from the CDC. While CDS is not issuing travel restrictions, we encourage all air and cruise travelers to review CDC's travel guidelines. Families with travel plans should be mindful that this situation is changing rapidly and we urge you to closely monitor cdc.gov for updates. All CDS students and staff returning from a CDC Level 3 Travel Health Notice country or have had contact with someone who has visited one of those countries should:
Contingency plans While it is certainly our intention to remain open, we also know it is important to be prepared if circumstances with COVID-19 require us to go to distance learning for a period of time. Our academic leadership teams, in collaboration with our innovation specialists and IT department, have worked hard to develop contingency plans to proceed with distance learning, should that become necessary. As mentioned in my March 2nd Health Update message, parents and students will be able to follow assignments on SeeSaw (kindergarten – grade 5) and Schoology (grades 6- 12). We are committed to continuing to support our students' learning even in the event of a closure of our campuses.
Information about COVID-19 The Florida Department of Health is a go-to resource for current information about COVID-19 that is relevant to Floridians. Key sources include:

Thank you for your support and understanding as we navigate complex circumstances in the best interest of wellness for all. Should circumstances warrant, we may take additional steps, and we urge families to pay close attention to school communications. I hope that spring break is safe and healthy for all.
