Permission to View PG-13 Our upcoming ESCOT bus trip to and from Florida's Space Coast is approximately 2 1/2 hours. We plan to watch Apollo 13 on our way there and, with your permission, The Martian on our way home. Both films connect beautifully to our current interdisciplinary units of study in Science, Design Technology, and Math. Gary Herdsman, GeekDad.com contributor, writes that "The themes of persistence and endurance and of the ordinary person doing extraordinary things under pressure are a healthy food for young minds." Common Sense Media rates The Martian appropriate for ages 12+. (You can read more about their review at CommonSenseMedia.com) If parents have urgent questions or concerns they may email Mrs. Carrie Prieto. |
