GET INVOLVED IN 2019-2020

If you are interested in potentially becoming a Room Representative for your child's class/homeroom for the 2019-2020 school year, then please add your name to the list!

The Room Representative acts as the liaison between the teacher and the parents, coordinates class volunteers, and facilitates events held "outside the classroom" (International Festival, class Auction/Gala involvement, Staff Appreciation activities, etc.). Periodic meetings are held to discuss the details of upcoming events. Meeting notes and parent information letters are provided for the representative to communicate with parents. It is a great way to get involved and stay connected!

We are currently collecting names of those parents who are interested in getting more involved for the ECC, Elementary and Middle School. Please add your name to each grade level that you would consider volunteering to be a Room Representative. Please click below to add your name to the list by August 2nd. Final selection will take place by September, after the students have been assigned to their classroom.

Please contact Andrea Esguerra or Andrea Cottrell, Elementary School Room Rep Coordinators, with questions.

COUNSELORS CORNER

Did you say let our children fail?

I can do it!

We all want what is best for our children, but there is a point where we need to let our kids fail in order to succeed. In light of the recent college admission's scandal, here is an interesting article from the New York Times on how well-intentioned parents are "robbing their children of adulthood."

RELAY FOR LIFE

April 5-6, 2019
Sickles High School
6:00 pm - Opening Ceremony
9:00 pm - Luminaria Ceremony

Relay for LifeCDS Senior Beta Club will participate in the Northwest Hillsborough Relay for Life on April 5-6 at Sickles High School and they need YOUR help! This will be the 10th year that CDS will have a Relay for Life team.

Relay for Life is the American Cancer Society’s largest national fundraiser and your contributions are used right here in Hillsborough County. There are several ways you can help:

  1. Honor a cancer survivor or remember someone who has lost his/her battle with cancer by dedicating a candle to be lit at the Luminaria Ceremony at 9 pm on April 5. Order your bag and please join us at Sickles High School for this very special ceremony.
  2. Donate gift cards or other items to be used in gift baskets for fundraising at the event. Contact Shelly Hollingsworth, Beta Club Sponsor, for more information.
  3. Attend Relay for Life at Sickles High School! Opening Ceremonies will be at 6:00 pm and the Luminaria Ceremony will be at 9:00 pm. All evening there will be fun activities, food trucks, and entertainment.
