Bravo Thespians!

CDS's Jr. Thespian Troupe traveled to Orlando last weekend for their State Festival. 16 Middle School Students competed in individual events including Monologue, Solo Musical, Duet Acting, & Ensemble Acting. Troupe 89245 earned 3 Excellents and 4 Superiors.

Parth M. ('21) and Nitya M. ('25) performed Bharatanatyam dance before the tip off of game between Orlando Magic and Brooklyn Nets on Saturday, February 2 as part of Orlando Magic's India Day celebration. This is the first time that Indian classical dancing has been performed at this annual event.

At 8:30 a.m., 8th grade parents are invited to join Ms. Rubinstein in the theatre for the opening of the *10th Grade MYP Personal Project Fair. 


* The 10th Grade MYP Personal Project Fair is a culminating activity of the MYP that showcases and celebrates projects that reflect the students' learning skills, interests and passions.

Attorney Lori Smith will speak to parents about the social media habits of teens and the social media violations that can most often impact school enrollment and limit future opportunities. Shakespeare Festival

Shakespeare Festival

Shakespeare Festival is a long-standing tradition at CDS. The entire middle school studies one of Shakespeare's plays. The students conceive, write, direct, and produce their own class plays using contemporary settings and contemporary types of genre to emulate Shakespeare's plot lines.

All middle school students should come dressed in Renaissance attire. The costumes do not have to be elaborate. Boys can wear their pants pushed to the knee with a large shirt and a belt.  Girls can wear a long skirt and a vest. If you need costume ideas please see this link for suggestions. MS students will be dismissed at 1:00 pm following the Grand Feast. There will not be an early bus for middle school students on this day. A supervised study hall will be available for MS students who are not able to be picked up early.

Parent Volunteers Needed
We are seeking volunteers to help with the set up on February 13 and assisting the day of on February 14 for the renaissance lunch provided to the middle school. Click here to volunteer.

8TH GRADE - IFLY FIELD TRIP

This enrichment field trip will introduce students to concepts in physics and mathematics related to surface area, forces and motion. This joint math and science experience will take students through the mathematics of skydiving as they learn about gravity, Newton’s laws of motion, and velocity. Engagement in hands-on activities and observation of experiments in the wind tunnel provide the background for a simulated skydiving experience. Interested students will have a flight class and then experience skydiving in the wind tunnel.

  • Arrival: Students must report to their Advisories for attendance at 8:00 a.m. We will leave to the buses at 8:05 a.m. We will return to school for regular dismissal.
  • Attire: Students should wear well-fitting, lace-up sneakers, or running shoes. Other shoes are not suitable. Students may wear a uniform or spirit shirt and pants - khakis or jeans (CDSA)
  • Lunch: Students should bring a bag lunch and bottled water, or may order one from FLIK by February 18.
  • Parents must complete the iFly Liability Waiver for students participating in the optional skydiving portion of the trip. iFly will email families a link with the waiver.
8th GRADE TRIBUTE SLIDE SHOW

Eaglet Baby8th Grade Parents: We have begun planning for the end of the academic year in May when we celebrate our 8th grade class.   Will you please submit three (3) digital pictures of your 8th grader to be used during the 8th Grade Promotional Ceremony on Thursday, May 9, 2019. We need a baby picture, an elementary age picture, and a recent picture showing your son/daughter as a young adult. The deadline for submittal is Friday, March 8, 2019.
