HUMAN GROWTH & DEVELOPMENT

Human Growth and Development Program
Grades 6 - 8
Friday January 18th

All middle school students, permitted to participate, will attend a class on Human Growth and Development at Carrollwood Day School on January 18th 2019. Health educators from St. Joseph’s Children’s Advocacy Center will teach these classes. Each grade level will be provided age appropriate information on physical and emotional changes during adolescence. Permission to participate in this program was included on the consolidated middle school field trip and activity permission forms that were collected at the beginning of the school year.

These sessions are for students only. CDS teachers will be present at all sessions. These programs are intended to enhance the role parents and guardians have in teaching and guiding children by providing students with a factual understanding of their own sexuality in a time when sexual matters are dealt with very openly in our society. Parents are encouraged to share with children their own family’s moral and religious values. The school program will not assume to go beyond giving factual information within generally accepted societal values.

Topics to be covered: Male and female social, emotional, and physical changes through puberty. Conception will be introduced.
