Erase Hate

The Laramie Project

Saturday, December 1, 2018
7:00 pm  |  CDS Theatre

In this 20th anniversary year of the murder of Matthew Shepard, Carrollwood Day School is proud to be able to partner with Matthew Shepard Foundation to present The Laramie Project. This play, not intended for audiences younger than 12 years old, focuses on the town of Laramie, coming to grips with the horrible, hate-fueled death of Matthew Shepard. The play reveals how deep hatred can go, as well as the compassion that lies within all people in a seemingly average community. CDS is bringing this play to the students, families, and community as a reminder that there is always hope, even in times of darkness.

Director, Colleen McEvoy and some of the actors share thoughts about this production.

Tickets & Sponsorships

TICKETS WILL BE SOLD AT THE DOOR.
20% of all ticket and t-shirt sales will be donated to the Matthew Shepard Foundation.

Thank you to Judy & Dennis Shepard
for coming to speak to our school and community.

The semester examinations are designed to provide seniors with a formal examination environment they are likely to experience in their May IB exams next semester.  All senior semester exams will be given at Congregation Kol Ami, 3919 Moran Road, Tampa, FL 33618. This will also be the site for the IB exams in May.

LUNCH ACCOUNTS

A number of students are overdrawn on their MySchoolBucks.com accounts. Please check your children's accounts (each child has an individual account) to be sure there is a positive balance in their accounts. Any student whose account is overdrawn will no longer be served the lunch of his/her choice. Students with negative balances will be served a Sunbutter and jelly sandwich for $3.50 which will be deducted from the student's account balance. We recommend that parents set up auto pay on their MySchoolBucks.com account to ensure their children get to have the lunch of their choice.

PSAT SCORES

College Board

On December 11, students who provided their email address on their October 2018 PSAT/NMSQT answer sheet will receive an email reminder from College Board explaining where and how to view their scores.

Any students who do not already have an account can set up a free College Board account at any time.  Students should not create or have multiple accounts.

Announcing Senior Privileges

At CDS we are preparing students for college and one of the most important aspects of being successful in college is responsibility. This year, with parental permission, we are providing the opportunity for seniors to practice responsibility by allowing them to arrive late to school and leave early on certain specified dates. Beginning in the second semester, seniors will be able to earn the privilege to go off campus for lunch on Fridays.

Please click here to download more information about these privileges, student conditions for eligibility, and the parent permission form.

COMMUNITY AND SERVICE

At CDS, we encourage our students to give back to the community. As an IB school, we embrace the mission statement of the IBO, which strives to develop “caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.”

TWO FOOD DRIVES

Feed the Hungry

Help support these US 10th grade Entrepreneur Class Projects. Collection bins will be in International Square through December 7.

  • P.A.T.H. - Patriots Against Tampa Hunger
Our group has the goal providing food for homeless people in the Tampa area through the non-profit organization, Metropolitan Ministries. The top three foods that we are looking to receive are non-perishable canned food items such as canned vegetables, canned meats, and canned yams.
                                          -Ava G., Sadie C., and Amr R.
  • Wheels on the Bus
Through a entrepreneurship project, our group was created with the goal to reduce the amount of child hunger. We are working with the Community Food Panty to donate the food raised from our food drive, and give to a local elementary school that has been identified as a school with an underfed population. The donations would benefit Community Food Pantry's weekend backpack nutrition program. The top three food items that are most beneficial are breakfast cereals, Chef Boyardee canned pasta & rice meals, and canned fruit.
                              -Brendan P., Lauren D., and Holly K.
