Trends both in and out of our school show students are feeling stressed starting at young ages. This program is part of Carrollwood Day School's commitment to partner with parents to support the overall well-being of our students. Parents with children of all ages are encouraged to attend this program.

Dr. Lindsey O'Brennan is a licensed psychologist and owner of Morningstar Wellness. She works with teens and adults who are experiencing stress, anxiety, and overwhelm due to their school, work, and life demands. She is also an adjunct faculty member and clinical supervisor for school psychology students at University of South Florida. She plays a leadership role in a research project that focuses on developing materials for students, teacher, and parents of high school students in Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate classes to help manage the stress associated with their accelerated coursework.

Dr. O'Brennan has done presentations this year for our 9th and 10th grade classes that were very well received by the students.

5TH GRADE - MOVING UP TO MIDDLE SCHOOL

Middle School Technology

MacBook Air

At CDS, technology is embedded in the learning experiences throughout the entire school. Every student in grades 4 - 12 is required to have a personally owned iPad or MacBook.

  • Note for students entering Grade 6: Beginning next year, Middle School will be transitioning away from iPads for 6th grade. Next year 6th graders will be able to use either an iPad or a MacBook; however, 2019-2020 will be the last year 6th grade students will be able to use iPads. Beginning in the 2020-2021 school year, all students in grades 6 - 8 will be required to have a MacBook laptop. If you are planning to purchase a new device in the coming year for your rising 6th grade student, you may want to consider purchasing a MacBook rather than a new iPad.
