The Laramie Project
Saturday, December 1, 2018 at 7:00 pm
In this 20th anniversary year of the murder of Matthew Shepard, Carrollwood Day School is proud to be able to partner with Matthew Shepard Foundation to present The Laramie Project. This play, not intended for audiences younger than 12 years old, focuses on the town of Laramie, coming to grips with the horrible, hate-fueled death of Matthew Shepard. The play reveals how deep hatred can go, as well as the compassion that lies within all people in a seemingly average community. CDS is bringing this play to the students, families, and community as a reminder that there is always hope, even in times of darkness.
20% of all ticket and t-shirt sales will be donated to the Matthew Shepard Foundation.

Carrollwood Day School is committed to erasing hate and promoting understanding and tolerance. To help facilitate this important work in connection with this performance of The Laramie Project, we are honored to be able to host a speaker from Matthew Shepard Foundation. Together we will strive to create an environment where people are afforded an opportunity to discuss the play and its messages, the hate they encounter in their own lives, and how we can work collectively to build a more understanding and compassionate community. There will be a program for upper school students during the day followed by a program in the evening for parents and community. Please join us for this important conversation as we strive to ERASE HATE and replace it with understanding, compassion and acceptance in our school, homes, and community.
This event is FREE. Reservations are appreciated.

In lieu of what is happening in our country and around the world lately, make sure to check out Dr. Borba's website with articles, books, suggestions, and ideas to foster empathy in children.
