EmilySeventh grade student Emily F. ('23) is being honored by the Duke University Talent Identification Program (Duke TIP) for her exceptional score on the SAT. She has been invited to a special recognition ceremony at University of South Florida on Tuesday, May 8.

Members of the CDS US Speech & Debate Team competed at the local Pajama Invitational Tournament at Wharton High School on Saturday, April 7. Three of our team members took home first place awards! Congratulations to: Aksheta K. ('20) in Original Oratory, Ellen J. in Declamation, and Akash P. ('21) in Humorous Interpretation.

Speech & Debate National Honors Society Induction Ceremony

Also, since Speech & Debate is not a spectator sport, all parents and students, especially eighth graders, are invited to the inaugural Speech & Debate National Honors Society Induction Ceremony on Friday, April 27 at 4:00 pm. Students and parent judges will be recognized and student performances will be showcased.

Speech & Debate Summer Programs

Speech and Debate Summer Camp is now open for registration! The camps will be held at Carrollwood Day School and feature an expert LD trainer, and Judge Training and practice for parents who have enrolled a student in the camp.

Perfect for experienced students as well as those just entering the Speech and Debate scene. Students will have a chance to begin constructing speeches for next year, and sharpen their debate skills with practice and feedback sessions.

Attend one, two, or all three weeks. Sessions run 9am to noon.

Beginning April 15, CDS golf team members and their parents may play after 12pm any day for a discounted rate: students – $25 and their parents – $40. If the student does not have a valid license, they must have a parent driver and the spectator fee is $25.
