Last week, over four days, CDS opened its doors at the ECC and Bearss Avenue campuses to some very special visitors...Grandparents and Grandfriends! It wasn't clear who was more excited, the children or their visitors, but one thing is for sure, hugs and smiles were abundant and a good time was had by all.

Grandparents and other Grandfriends are very special in children's lives. CDS Grandparents' Day recognizes the importance of our heritage, our community, and relationships across generations. Grandparents and Grandfriends are invited to visit the school, find out what students are learning, and celebrate with us.

From the toddlers through the 5th graders, CDS students were excited to share their classrooms, artwork, and introduce their teachers. Each CDS elementary grade prepared a performance with the common theme of how much grandparents/grandfriends mean to them. Check out the performances of each grade below.

It was a wonderful day, filled with love and laughter. We can't wait for next year!

A big thank you to all the teachers and administrators who helped get ready for this event. Also to Tanya Layton, Innovation Specialist, for creating amazing slideshows for grades 1-5 and to Vickie Holtsclaw, Elementary Music Teacher, for working with each grade on their special performances. And last but certainly not least, thank you to the PTO and PTO President April Babb for organizing all the goodies for visitors and students. It takes a village!
