This week is Teacher Appreciation Week and the Council for Economic Education wanted to give parents and students a way to recognize just how amazing teachers are. The CEE created a “This Teacher Rocks” campaign to celebrate teachers for going above and beyond. As soon as schools shut down, they basically learned a new way to teach remotely overnight.

The CEE invited parents and students to tell them about a teacher who rocks. Each teacher entered was nominated for a chance to win a $100 Amazon gift certificate. One awesome teacher is being selected to win each day this week.  On Tuesday, CDS 8th grade Language and Literature teacher, Mindy Gilbert, was selected the winner!

Mrs. Gilbert was nominated by her student, JB M. who wrote, “She has been one of my favorite teachers throughout my middle school experience.”  As a teacher, Mrs. Gilbert loves instilling a passion for reading and writing in her students. She believes that she has the best job in the world because she gets to see her students do inspiring, innovative things every single day. And it is clear, she is an inspiration to her students. Congratulations, Mrs. Gilbert, for this deserving recognition.
