Spotlight on Senior Athletes

Patriot Nation, join us in celebrating two of our spring-sport senior athletes!

Hello Patriot Nation!

I hope everyone is staying safe and healthy. These are certainly unprecedented times we are in right now. I know all of our coaches and athletes are still holding on to the chance that we are able to resume school and athletics in May. The FHSAA is currently working on a contingency plan that could extend the spring season until June 30. I am hopeful that we are all back together soon and watching our athletes do what they love.

While we are waiting to return, I thought this would be a great opportunity to recognize our senior athletes that play spring sports: baseball, lacrosse, tennis, track and field, beach volleyball, and flag football.

Spotlight on Jared J. and Reece K.

The first two athletes we'd like to recognize are probably involved in more sports than any other students at CDS. Jared J. has been a fixture on our tennis team and Reece K. is a key contributor on our baseball team. And when they are not competing themselves, they are the voice of CDS athletics, serving as our AV League sports broadcasters. Here is a chance for a little sit down with Jared and Reece to help everyone get to know them a little better...

In addition to recognizing individual senior athletes over the next few weeks, we are also going to provide links to past games, many of which Jared and Reece commentated.

The first game being released is a varsity boys basketball game vs Calvary Christian from last season. Trailing by 10 with less than 2 minutes to play, your Patriots battled back behind senior Malcolm Whitlow’s school record 57 point effort and won the game in overtime. Malcolm ended his career at CDS as the school’s all time leading scorer with over 2,000 for his career. Malcolm just finished his 1st year at Eckerd where he averaged just under 13 points per game.

I hope everyone enjoys these videos, and I cannot wait until we are all back watching our athletes competing live and in person.
