On September 21, CDS students from ECC through upper school recognized the International Day of Peace.
The International Day of Peace ("Peace Day") is observed around the world each year on September 21st. Established in 1981 by unanimous United Nations resolution, Peace Day provides a globally shared date for all humanity to commit to Peace above all differences and to contribute to building a Culture of Peace.
This year is particularly significant: It is the 20th Anniversary of the UN Resolution on the Programme of Action on a Culture of Peace.
CDS celebrated the International Day of Peace with literature devoted to peace, poetry, creating paper cranes to celebrate the story of Sadako Sasaki, and many other activities. As one CDS student wrote, "...like the air we breathe, we need peace to live."
We hope everyone has a lifetime full of peace and love. We would like to share what Peace Day looked like at the ECC and Bearss Avenue campus.
