FBLA State Competition Winners

In just our second year of membership in FBLA, CDS students placed at the state competition and earned an invitation to the national competition.

When the FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) March state competition was canceled the morning of, the CDS students set to compete were understandably upset. However, rather than let all their hard work go to waste, they quickly pivoted, and during the week of April 18-24 completed their events virtually.

CDS, the upper school administration, and the faculty FBLA advisors, Ms. Montague and Ms. O'Neill, are so excited to congratulate the following FBLA members who placed in the state conference.

FBLA States 2020

Second Place in Entrepreneurship

Simran S., Katie F. and Kareena D. competed in the Public Service Announcement event, with this year's topic being the importance of financial literacy for teens. They were tasked with researching the topic, creating a script, and filming a 30-second PSA video. Check out their video below.

Simon participated in the Entrepreneurship event, which is a two-part event that includes a case study presentation and an objective test on enterprise theory and concepts. Simon will also be invited to compete at the FBLA national event at the end of June.

The CDS FBLA chapter has just completed their second year of membership and this is the first time our students have placed at the state competition.

Thank you to Ms. Montague, Upper School Advanced Entrepreneurship & Business Management teacher and FBLA Student Advisor, and Ms. O'Neill, Upper School Humanities Teacher, and FBLA Advisor, for contributing to this article and for mentoring the CDS FBLA students.
