COVID Busters

Everyone at CDS is on the front line to keep our campuses COVID-free.

CDS has stringent protocols in place to mitigate the potential spread of COVID-19. In addition to our normal operating protocols, CDS conducts periodic surface testing for COVID-19 using kits provided by Phylagen, Inc. Phylagen Surface™ for SARS-CoV-2 is a test kit for surfaces in the interior environment for detection of the presence of SARS-CoV-2. The test relies on RT-qPCR to sensitively detect the novel coronavirus.

CDS has conducted two separate surface testings to date; the most recent being December 8, 2020. The  testing conducted last week was focused on high touch areas and samples were taken from more than 60 locations at both the ECC and Bearss Avenue campus. This latest round of testing yielded only one positive result and one undetermined result. The positive result was on a door handle located on the exterior door of the weight room. The undetermined result was due to contamination from bleach on the swab head which was not surprising. This particular swab was in the kitchen serving area where cleaning protocols are heaviest.

Vinnie Monty, Facilities Director, reports, "We are pleased with the results considering the number of people utilizing our spaces daily on both campuses. CDS continues to focus on the safety and welfare of our students, staff and visitors and the latest round of testing proves our protocols are working. We will step up our disinfection protocols in the weight room area and continue our dedication to providing the healthiest learning environment possible for our current and future Patriots!"
