CDS Junior takes the podium

Jonathan C. finishes in 2nd place at NHSCA

Wrestling NHSCA Tourney

This weekend, CDS Class of 2022 junior, Jonathan C. finished a tough weekend of wrestling at one of the most premier national tournaments, NHSCA, on the podium. Jonathan came in 2nd after only one loss to the #4 ranked wrestler in the country. To give even more context to this impressive win, the NHSCA tournament in Virginia Beach is considered the premier post-season high school tournament in the country. Placing in this tournament, let alone going to the finals, is a major accomplishment at the high school level. In fact, many of our most elite World and Olympic-level wrestlers have won or competed in this tournament, including three members of the 2021 Freestyle Olympic Team, who will compete in Tokyo this summer.

Jonathan is no stranger to the mat or the podium. He started competing at the high school varsity level when he was just in middle school, bringing home medals and state titles every season. Finishing up his junior year, Jonathan has amassed four state titles in four different weight classes and is stronger than ever. As he heads into his senior year he will attempt the very rare five-time state championship.

CDS is proud to call Jonathan a Patriot and can't wait to watch him in his senior year season.

Thank you to CDS Head Wrestling Coach, Sal Cuono, and Assistant Head Coach, Jason Conrad for believing in Jonathan and putting in extraordinary work to sustain an excellent program at CDS.
