Athletics Week in Review

A look back at the week that was in CDS Patriots sports.

Week of October 7-12, 2019

CROSS COUNTRY

  • Varsity: Boys and girls competed in the Clearwater Central Catholic XC Classic.

  • Middle School: This was another amazing meet! We had 23 personal best and out of the top 11 runners, 8 were CDS Patriots. This has been so far the best season for our team! Tomorrow's open meet will have 16 teams and we are so excited to see some new competition for our runners.

  • Final Standing for the Florida West Coast League

    • JV Boys-1st place

    • JV Girls-3rd place

    • Varsity Boys could not place due to only having 3 runners.

Congratulations to all our runners on an exciting season!

FOOTBALL

  • Varsity lost to Out of Door Academy; final score 7-39.

  • Middle School lost to Cambridge; final score 20-29.

GOLF

  • Tuesday: Lightning stops everything after 4 holes. No scores.

  • Wednesday: Having gone through the season against only the top teams in the county, the Lady Patriots never quit working and competing. In their last match of the season, all the work paid off as the team came through with a 1 stroke win over the Academy of the Holy Names. Four golfers had their best rounds of the season with Olivia H. ('25) leading the way with a match leading 41.  Shooting their best rounds of the year in consecutive matches were Hailey A. ('23), Paige B. ('21), and Chase S. ('21).  The team next competes in the District Tournament on Monday morning.

  • Thursday: While it did not end the way they wanted, the final match of the season showed the potential that the Patriots have over the next few years.  With 4 golfers playing heir first varsity match, CDS gave Bayshore Christian a fight but came up 5 strokes short.  Taking first place was Jacob Z. ('24)(48) who along with Jon K. ('22), Justin C. ('22), and Jai D. ('25) did the scoring for CDS. Justin and Jai, along with Sam Z. ('26) and Zack C. ('26) playing in their first match showed real promise for the Patriot Golf future. Next up is the District Tournament on Monday.
