8th Grade Humanities students bring the past into the present

Mrs. Ruth's 8th grade students used WWII posters as inspiration to create posters relevant to the challenges we are facing today.

CDS 8th-grade Humanities students are currently finishing up their studies on World War II. As part of the unit, students learned about how WWII propaganda posters helped garner support back at home. Commissioned artists created posters that encouraged U.S. citizens to purchase war bonds or for women to join the workforce in the factories. There were posters with messages of patriotic loyalty and tips to save on gas and waste.

8th-grade Humanities teacher, Mrs. Ruth, quickly saw the parallels to WWII and our current fight against COVID 19 and urged the students to modify the WWII posters to make them relevant to today's challenges. Here is a sample of those posters.

Thank you to 8th-grade Humanities teacher, Mrs. Ruth, for facilitating this lesson and to the amazing 8th graders for completing these posters and encouraging us all to stay safe and healthy.
