Athletic Milestones and Awards
April 2014. Two varsity soccer players were invited to the 10th Annual Tampa Tribune Parade of Athletes in recognition of their athletic achievements.
April 2014. Varsity Girls Softball Team won the District Championship for the second year in a row and advanced to the Regional Final.
March 2014. For the third time in four years, Carrollwood Day School has been nominated to receive the FHSAA/Fred E. Rozelle Sportsmanship Award, one of the highest honors in the state for high school athletics.
March 2014. Thirteen members of the CDS Equestrian team qualified to compete in the regionals competition. The High School team had 11 girls compete as individuals and 6 of those girls represented the team as well. This was the first time in school history that CDS competed in the team portion of the competition. The Middle School team had 2 girls competing as individuals.
Spring 2014. Middle School Boys Varsity Track Team tied the 1 mile FWCL record and set a new school record. The team also set new FWCL records for 1/2 mile and 800 meter.
Spring 2014. Middle School Girls Varsity Track Team set a new school record for the Sprint Medley and the 7th and 8th grade relay team and individual events moved up to compete at the high school level.
February 2014. Senior, Alex Schweitzer signed to play soccer at Virginia Tech.
Winter 2014. Varsity Wrestler, Kalle Wilwant, finished as a District Runner-Up and four wrestlers competed in the Regional Tournament.
Winter 2014. Varsity Boys Soccer won the District Championship for the first time in program history and advanced to the Regional Final - one game away from the final four.
Winter 2014. Varsity Girls Soccer won the District Championship for the first time in program history.
Winter 2014. Varsity Girls Basketball finished as District Runner-Up and advanced to the Regional Quarter-Finals for the first time in program history.
Winter 2014. Middle School Boys Basketball Team finished in 2nd place in the FWCL.
January 2014. Girls Varsity Soccer Team won their first District Title.
Fall 2013. Three members of the Varsity Cross Country Team advanced to the regional meet.
Fall 2013. Three Varsity Golfers advanced to Regionals. Nick Neugebauer won the individual district title; Isaac Dieter finished 3rd, and Claudia Rami finished as the individual district runner-up.
Fall 2013. Boys Middle School JV Cross Country Team placed 1st in the FWCL and the Girls Middle School JV Cross Country Team placed 2nd in the FWCL.
Fall 2013. Varsity Volleyball set a school record for wins. They won the Keswick Invitational and Anclote Tournaments and the Bay Conference Championship.
Fall 2013. Varsity Football was the District Runner-up and advanced to the Regional Semi-Finals. They won the Bay Conference Championship for the second year in a row.
November 2012. The CDS Equestrian Team (a club sport at CDS) is making their mark throughout the state. At their most recent meet the Middle School took team Grand Champion and High School took Reserve Champion (2nd place). Ribbon Count so far this year: 7 First Place, 5 Second Place, 7 Third Place, 2 Fourth Place, 1 Fifth Place, and 2 Sixth Place.
November 2012. Two members of the Varsity Cross Country Team competed at the Regional Cross Country Championship Meet and one advanced to the State Finals.
November 2012. For the first time in CDS history, the Patriots secured an FHSAA playoff berth! CDS finished the regular season play as District Champions with a record of 8-1.
October 2012. The Varsity Volleyball team competed at the District Tournament.
October 2012. Two players on the Varsity Golf Team qualified to compete at the Regional Tournament and one advanced to the Girls State Golf Tournament.
May 2012 . Junior, Eric Fitz-Randolph who won his second straight district individual No. 1 title this season to qualify for the 1A state tournament, was named Hillsborough County Boys Athlete of the Year by the Tampa Tribune.

April 2012. The Varsity Softball Team made it to the District Semi-Finals.
April 2012. The Varsity Baseball Team took a 12-12 overall record for regular season play with some key wins against some strong programs and much larger schools. Several CDS players ranked among the top stat leaders in Hillsborough County including 2nd and 3rd in batting average, 5th and 7th in RBIs, and 1st in runs scored. CDS was also #2 in the County in runs scored per game.
April 2012. The Boys and Girls Varsity Track and Field Teams competed at the State Regional Meet where runners placed 5th in boys 400 meters finals (new school record of 53:13), 8th in girls 3200 (2mile ) finals (new school record of 12:16), 6th in girls 200 meter finals, and 4th in girls 400 meters, qualifying for State Championships.
April 2012. In their first visit to the FHSAA Championship State Finals as a team, the CDS Girls Varsity Tennis Team advanced to the final round, with a freshman earning the runner-up Singles Championship title.
April 2012. The Girls Varsity Tennis Team swept the District Tournament winning the Team Championship as well as Girls Singles and Girls Doubles. CDS also won the District Boys Singles Tournament for the second year in a row.
April 2012. Two football players commit to play football at Dakota State and Baldwin-Wallace. A CDS volleyball player will play for the Agnes Scott Scotties next year.
April 2012. Two Varsity Basketball players made honorable mention for All County Basketball Teams named by Tampa Bay Times and Tampa Tribune, respectively.
March 2012. Middle School Girls Track and Field Team placed 2nd in the FWCL Middle School Championship Meet.
March 2012. A member of the CDS Equestrian Team qualified to compete at National in New York. This is the first year CDS fielded an Equestrian Team.
February 2012. Two CDS seniors signed letters of intent to play sports with NCAA Division 1 colleges. Taylor Tippett signed to play soccer at University of South Florida and Deuce Gruden signed to play football with Lafayette College in Easton, PA.
January 2012. CDS introduced an equestrian team for middle school and high school students. Their first show was the Wall Street Farm and Tally Ho IEA Horse Show at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center and every rider placed.
January 2012. CDS varsity player was named to the 2011 Associated Press All State First Team.
December 2011. CDS varsity player was named to the Tampa Bay Times' 2011 all-Hillsborough County Football Team.
December 2011. The Varsity Wrestling team got its first win in their inaugural season.

September 2011. High school students organized the first school intramural cricket club league in the Tampa Bay area.
June 2011. Two high school baseball players made the all county team for the St. Petersburg Times as honorable mentions and seven players received honorable mention recognition by the Tampa Tribune. A sophomore was awarded honorable mention recognition by St. Petersburg Times and Tampa Tribune for track and field. Two CDS tennis players were named to the all county first team by the St. Petersburg Times and one player received honorable mention. A CDS senior made honorable mention All County Academic Athletic Team for the whole year.
May 2011. For the second year in a row, the Florida West Coast League presented Carrollwood Day School with the Rick Stowell Sportsmanship Award.
May 2010. Good sportsmanship rules at CDS! For the third year, the middle school athletic program received the Rick Stowell Sportsmanship Award from the FWCL for exemplary sportsmanship. The high school athletic program was nominated for the third time to receive the Fred E. Rozelle Sportsmanship Award from the FHSAA for exemplary sportsmanship.
April 2010. Carrollwood Day School athletes placed first in an event at both the Boys and Girls Varsity Track and Field District Meets. Six additional CDS athletes advanced to the regional level and one athlete continued on to the state competition.
July 2009. CDS Prep varsity football team named 2009 Small School Division Champions at USF Sling and Shoot Camp.
May 2009. The first CDS Prep athlete signed a letter of intent to play soccer with a university.
April 2009. CDS was the only school in the Tampa Bay area invited to participate in the National Student Athlete Day at the University of South Florida. Sixty CDS students in grades 4 through 8 were selected based on their outstanding athleticism, leadership, sportsmanship, attitude, behavior and academics.
April 2009. In its first season of competition, three CDS Prep varsity track and field athletes advanced to compete at the regional level.
February 2009. The CDS boys' varsity basketball team played in the FHSAA District Semi-Final Tournament game. This is the first time in the history of CDS athletics that a team advanced to this level in FHSAA District Tournament competition.
October 2008. Varsity Football Head Coach, Lane McLaughlin, was named the Tampa Bay Buccaneers High School Coach of the Week.
October 2008. The CDS varsity golf team completed their inaugural season with a 5-2 winning record. An eighth grade player scored 99 at the District Tournament and qualified to advance as an individual to the Regional Tournament.
September 2008. The CDS Patriots made history by playing their first middle school football game. Unfortunately the outcome on the scoreboard was not what everyone had hoped for; however, a number of positives emerged on which they can build as a team.
September 2008. Hundreds of CDS fans came out to cheer the Patriots varsity football team on to victory at the first 11-man football game in CDS history. The home game was played on the newly expanded lakeside athletic fields that CDS uses.
April 2008. In only its second year as a member of the Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA), Carrollwood Day School received the 2007-08 FHSAA/Fred E. Rozelle Sportsmanship Award, one of the highest honors in the state for high school athletics. The Patriots’ athletics program was selected the winner for Class 1A, Section 3 and the overall winner for Class 1A.
CDS earned numerous honors during the 2007 - 2008 athletic seasons.
- Athletic Director, Frank Mabry, was awarded the Deane Booth Award by the Hillsborough County Volleyball Officials Association.
- CDS Prep’s varsity football team claimed the state championship title for the Florida Christian Association of Private and Parochial School six-man football league.
- Four CDS Prep football players were named to the FCAPPS All State Football Squad.
- The MS JV Girls Cross Country team finished the Florida West Coast League season in 1st place and the MS JV Boys team finished 2nd place in the league.
- In its first season of eligibility, the CDS Prep varsity Soccer team qualified to play in the FHSAA District Tournament.
- The MS JV Boys and JV Girls Track and Field teams finished the season in 1st place in the FWCL. The Varsity Girls team had a 2nd place finish.
- The MS Girls Softball team was undefeated in the regular season and went on to win the FWCL Red Division Tournament.
- A MS tennis singles player was undefeated in regular season play and won the #1 singles Championship of the FWCL tennis tournament. The CDS Boys MS doubles team also finished the season in 1st place and won the FWCL Championship in their division.
