Read about exciting technology advances in 2010-2011!

Each year, Carrollwood Day School makes a significant investment in updating and expanding technology throughout the entire school. Many of these purchases are funded by money raised at the CDS annual auction sponsored by the PTO.

  • At the Early Childhood Campus the kindergarten classes have computers that are used with age-appropriate educational programs. Laptops are available for the faculty to use in connection with IB planning and for cataloging the ECC's extensive collection of books.
  • Kindergarten classes each have an ELMO document camera.
  • Early Childhood Campus uses digital cameras and microscopes.
  • All elementary classrooms are equipped with computers that can be used for supervised online research, quizzes and educational programs.
  • A 10-station mini computer lab is available for small group and classroom use in the elementary resource room.
  • ***NEW IN 2010-2011:  A MacBook cart has been purchased for the fifth grade classes to share.
  • Fourth grade classes share a mobile cart with AlphaSmart light-weight, portable, laptops for word processing. 
  • The middle school has two mobile carts with class sets of MacBooks and Lenovo laptops that are available for classes to use in all disciplines.
  • ***NEW IN 2010-2011: An iMac lab has been installed for the middle school.
  • The high school has a 1:1 laptop program through which each student owns a personal MacBook that is used in classes and for special projects.
  • Digital probeware is used in the high school science department.
  • Many classrooms in elementary, middle school and high school are equipped with mimio® interactive technology.
  • The computer lab is located in a spacious facility with 20" iMac computers.
  • The entire collection in the Media Center is organized on an online catalog and check-out system. The media center has wireless access for faculty and students working on laptops and is equipped with desktop computers for access to the catalog and online research. 
  • All middle school and high school teachers have a personal laptop and access to LCD projectors.
  • Members of the faculty have the opportunity to participate in onsite technology professional development classes and attend regional and statewide technology workshops and programs.
  • The middle school, high school, and Media Center have wireless access to the CDS network.
  • ***NEW IN 2010-2011:  All faculty members have been issued MacBooks.
  • Most classrooms are equipped with LCD projectors.
  • The entire CDS network is managed by iPrism, one of the industry's leading web filters designed specifically to meet the needs of schools. In addition to blocking sites with inappropriate content, this system prevents access to proxy servers that can allow users to bypass content filters, and protects the network from viruses and malware.
  • Managed through an online Help Desk, the CDS IT Department provides onsite support for computer repairs and assistance.
  • A technology integrator works with teachers to enhance instruction through the use of technology in their classrooms.
