Fundraising at CDS
It is necessary for any class or group to submit an application in order to conduct any fundraising acivities at Carrollwood Day School. The fundraiser application form may be completed online or may be downloaded and submitted to Michelle Cáceres, the assistant director of development. A committee consisting of administrators will review all requests and notify you if your request has been approved for the specified dates.
When you are planning a fundraiser, please keep in mind the following guidelines:
- Only fundraisers that are sponsored by a Carrollwood Day School class or club, or by the school as a whole, will be considered. We cannot honor requests for individual causes, however worthwhile they may be.
- Children at CDS do not go door to door selling or soliciting for events. This may not be safe and is not appropriate for our children.
- We cannot do every fundraiser that may be requested. Fundraisers must be spaced throughout the year.
- If children are involved in a fundraiser, it must be age appropriate.
- All of our families must feel free not to participate in any of the fundraisers. No pressuring!
- We do not reward individuals or classes for collecting the most money or selling the most merchandise. Sally Foster offers prizes each year. We do not distribute those prizes. We do not want our students to do good deeds for rewards. We want them to help others because it is the “right thing” to do. If children are provided extrinsic rewards, they will expect a prize every time they do something for someone else. This is sending the wrong message to our children.
- PTO sponsors several fundraisers every year. In the fall they sponsor the Book Fair and Sally Foster sales. Our Board of Trustees sponsors the Golf Tournament. Second semester is a busy time for our parents preparing for the Auction. Keep these events in mind. Not only will poor timing hinder these events, it will almost insure that your event will not be as successful as it might be at another time.
- There is one master calendar of all fundraising events. It is kept in Michelle Cáceres’s office. No event will be placed on the calendar until the required fund raising application form has been submitted and approved as outlined above.
Again, if for any reason we are asking parents for any money whatsoever, an application must be completed and returned. You may submit the application online , download , or obtain the application from Michelle Cáceres (P 813.920.2288). Thank you for your cooperation and support of this policy.
