5th Graders Making a Better World

The PYP Exhibition is the culminating event that students at all PYP schools in the world participate in during their final year in the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme. The Exhibition is an opportunity for students, during their last year in elementary school, to apply their learning and to take action as a result of their learning. Students use the PYP transdisciplinary skills: communication skills, social skills, research skills, self-management skills, and thinking skills as they "identify, investigate and offer solutions to real life issues or problems."

Each of the five classes is working on student-driven collaborative inquiries into real life issues they identified as important to them. This year the students are focusing their studies on the following central ideas:

An important component of the exhibition is for the students to engage the school community in their learning. Each year the fifth grade classes identify ways they can take action and provide opportunities for the school community to unite to make a difference. Plan to attend the PYP Exhibition on Wednesday, May 17 and be prepared to be inspired by and in awe of what these young people will accomplish.
