• Career and College
The student will increase self-awareness about career interests, values, skills, and personality. The student will also learn about career fields and the paths that lead them to those careers. The student will learn and practice necessary writing skills needed to write a cover letter, resume, business letter, fax memorandum, business e-mails, and a college entrance essay. Specific goal setting strategies will be taught to assist the student in setting short- and long-term goals. Part-time jobs and extra-curricular opportunities will be investigated. College exploration will include: researching colleges (private and public), costs of a college education, financing options, entrance requirements (GPA, ACT/SAT scores, essay, volunteerism/extracurricular involvement, admission deadlines, and timeline for visiting campuses and attending open houses).
