At A Glance Founded in 1981 as an early Childhood Center, Carrollwood Day School has grown to include elementary and middle school, serving Hillsborough, Pasco, and Pinellas counties. CDS enjoys a reputation for excellence in education with an emphasis on character development as well as a challenging academic curriculum. CDS is a not-for-profit corporation with 501(c)(3) status, governed by a Board of Trustees. Early
Childhood Campus Our Early Childhood Campus was the first school in Hillsborough County to be accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and enjoys this continued accreditation as well as that of the Florida Kindergarten Council (FKC). We are honored to be staffed by our well educated, highly trained faculty and staff. Their greatest assets are enthusiasm for children and learning and their unbridled compassion. Our curriculum, which is based on the HighScope theory of educating young children, is founded on two central goals: helping children to develop critical thinking skills so that they will be better prepared for their ongoing education and enabling children to be well-rounded in the area of social development. Our thoughtfully designed and purposefully implemented curriculum begins in our toddler program and continues through all levels at Carrollwood Day School. Upper
Campus A separate area of the campus is home to CDS Prep. In addition to spacious classrooms and science labs, the high school complex includes a well-equipped weight and physical training facility, dance and art studios and the school spirit store. Surrounded by mirrored lakes, a retreat center and wetland conservation, this beautiful campus provides the perfect setting for Carrollwood Day School to realize its vision to continue its tradition of excellence for students in elementary through high school. Although this superb new facility provides improved classroom facilities, CDS maintains many of the traditions that help us appreciate the beautiful natural resources our new campus offers. Students still enjoy eating lunch outside under the trees every day and classes have the opportunity to move outdoors for discussions, reading, and other activities. The third phase of renovations to the new campus is already underway. Plans are being finalized to prepare for construction of a new gymnasium and additional classroom and common areas. Return
