Speech & Debate Team compete in first National Tournament!

Speech & Debate Team

The CDS Speech & Debate Team competed on October 27, 28, and 29 at the Florida Blue Key Speech & Debate Tournament at the University of Florida. It marked their first National Tournament which hosted over 2,000 students from around the country. Akash P. ('21) broke into the quarter finals in Humorous Interpretation, while Aksheta K. ('20) made it to the octa finals in the highly competitive Original Oratory event. Congratulations to all five of our competitors for a fantastic tournament!

Their next tournament will be at Lakewood Ranch High School this Saturday, November 11. As always, they need parents, teachers, alumni, or friends interested in helping out as a judge at future tournaments. The team cannot compete without adult volunteers to judge events. No experience is needed, training (and lunch) will be provided! Please contact Mr. Jannereth for details.
