First US Parents' Coffee Morning
Thursday, September 7
8:30 a.m.
Sara Rubinstein, Head of the Upper School, will host a series of morning coffees this year for all upper school parents. These monthly get togethers feature a discussion on a topic of particular interest to parents. The topic for this first coffee is Celebrating CDS: Modern & Relevant College Prep + Homecoming Information!
Guest presenters, Director of College Counseling, Joe Runge; IB Coordinators Sabrina McCartney and Nancy Hsu; Assistant Head of the Upper School, John Horsington; and members of the Student Council will answer the question, "What does an authentically preparatory college education look like and how does that vision align with IB @CDS?" They will also highlight some of the exciting plans for this year's all-school Homecoming festivities.
Parents’ Coffee Mornings will be held once a month (generally on Tuesday mornings) at 8:30 a.m.
Additional coffees will be held on:
October 3, November 7, December 5, January 9, February 6, March 6, and April 3. Check the school calendar for information about each of these programs.

Upper school students are encouraged to return their eclipse glasses to CDS so that Astronomers Without Borders can distribute them to other countries for future eclipses. Glasses can be returned to any science teacher or placed in the designated bin in International Square.
Policy for reporting an US student absence
Parents should notify the school by 8:30 a.m. at the following email address to report their child's absence. We suggest that parents add this email to their "contacts" for quick access.
USAbsence@CarrollwoodDaySchool.org
Your message will be retrieved by the upper school secretary. If a student is not reported absent at the email above, an email notification of the absence is sent to the parent requesting a response confirming the absence.
Please note that attendance is recorded each day by the first period teacher at 8:30 a.m. Students who arrive to school after 8:40 a.m. must check-in with the receptionist at the front desk in the main lobby to obtain a tardy pass.
Schoology is a web-based learning management system that provides a secure and safe, easy-to-use, way for teachers, students, parents, and administrators to seamlessly communicate and collaborate to enhance students’ learning and success.
